Sunday 4th March 2012 – Monivea to Athenry Horse Ride in aid of Galway Hospice

A fantastic Charity Horse Ride will be taking place from Monivea to Athenry on Sunday 4th March 2012 with all proceeds being donated to Galway Hospice.  The event route will begin at 12 noon from Monivea Village and will arrive in Athenry town at 2pm (approx), where they will stop for refreshments in the town centre.

After refreshments, the riders will return to Monivea, aiming to be back in Monivea by 5.30pm.  Later that night, there will be an auction and live music in McGann’s Lounge.

Registration for riders will take place in the car park at the back of McGann’s Bar before the event and the cost of registration will be €50 for adults and €20 for children.

Throughout the day, there will also be various bucket collections, with proceeds being donated to Galway Hospice.

Galway Hospice depends so much on events like to continue funding our Home Care and Day Care services.  Today, we are caring for 136 patients in their own homes, patients who might otherwise have to be in hospitals or nursing homes.  The vast majority of these patients want to be cared for at home, if there is a choice available.  Hospice not only provides that choice, but also provides a comprehensive level of quality care in the home.   Hopefully, some day, the State will see fit to fund this service.  In the meantime, we rely on amazing people, like the organisers of this event, to help with the funding of this service.

Your support for this event would be much appreciated.
