St. Stephen’s Day – get ready for the 2012 Turkey Run!

It’s that time of year again!  The 2012 ‘Turkey Run’ is almost upon us! It is taking place again this year on St Stephen’s Day (Wednesday 26th December) in Kilbeacanty, with proceeds to be shared between Galway Hospice and Gort Cancer Support Group.

This is an event not to be missed!!  And it’s a chance to ease the pressure on the waistline after the Christmas dinner and all those mince pies and hot toddies!

Walk, run or crawl the 8k – we don’t mind!!!  And it’s not just for turkeys.  Humans are welcome too!

Entry fee costs €10 (for humans – no charge for turkeys) but ONLY if booked through the www.turkeyrun.ie website or alternatively contact Colm Moylette on info@turkeyrun.ie

Registration will also be open on the day from 11am to 1pm for €15 with the road race waddling off at 1.30pm, followed by refreshments (maybe some cold turkey) and entertainment afterwards in McCarthy’s in Kilbeacanty.  Turkeys must be accompanied by an adult if visiting McCarthy’s.

Last year, the 2011 ‘Turkey Run’ raised a fantastic €2670.50 for Galway Hospice. Pictured is Colm Moylette presenting the proceeds to Emer Molloy of Galway Hospice. Thanks to Colm and everyone who helped organise last year’s ‘Turkey Run’ and of course to everyone who supported the event in aid of Galway Hospice and Gort Cancer Support.

This is a fantastic way to spend St Stephen’s Day, while supporting two great charities! So why not come along and support the 2012 ‘Turkey Run’, even if only to cheer on the turkeys.
