Visit of Galway Rose to Galway Hospice

Newly crowned Galway Rose, Kate Kennedy from Athenry, came to visit Galway Hospice this week to meet with patients and staff.  Kate is one of 26 “Irish” Roses (representing Irish counties as opposed to international centres) that will be competing in the Regional Finals in Portlaoise in the coming weeks, from which only nine “Irish” Roses will be selected to go forward to the Rose of Tralee Finals this year.  It’s 10 years since the county of Galway was represented at the finals in Tralee, and this year we have a very worthy potential representative in Kate.  Our best wishes to Kate, and – if selected – we know she will do Galway proud.

While at Galway Hospice Kate got to meet with the Day Care patients, many of whom were eager to be photographed with her on their mobile phones!  While at the Day Care centre, we took a photo of Kate with Staff Nurse Mary Clancy.  Later, at Reception, Kate very kindly posed for a photo with Receptionist Assumpta Walsh.

Thank you Kate for being so generous with your time and so gracious with everyone you met.  We will all be “rooting” for you in the weeks to come, and looking forward to meeting with you when you return to the Hospice with some musical friends after all the commitments of the Finals.
