Study Day in Palliative Care (for nurses)

Galway Hospice will host a Study Day in Palliative Care for nurses on Thursday, 13th October 2022 at the Maldron Hotel, Sandy Road, Galway H91 ET6N. The event will take place from 8:30am to 4:00pm approx. Timetable as follows:

08.30-08.45: Welcome and Opening Address- Geraldine Cooley (CNM3), Lorraine Mernagh (CNSp.) & Jane Fitzgerald (CNSp.)

08.45-09.45: Delirium and Dementia- Dr. Sharon Beatty

09.45-10.45: Communication and Breaking Bad News- Caroline Quinn (Principal Medical Social Worker)

10.45-11.00: Tea / Coffee

11.00-12.00: Advance Care Planning- Catriona Kilbane (CNSp.)

12.00-13.00: Palliative care needs of patients with non- malignan:t conditions- Dr. Laura Gaffney

13.00-14.00: Recognition and management of the dying person- Dr. Camilla Murtagh

14.00-14.30: Lunch

14.30-15.30: Syringe Driver Workshop- Geraldine Cooley (CNM3), Lorraine Mernagh (CNSp.), Jane Fitzgerald (CNSp.) & Dan Keane (Director of Education) –

15.30-16.00: Q&A and closing address- Geraldine Cooley (CNM3)
