Salthill Rotary cheque presentation to Galway Hospice

Salthill Rotary, over a number of months, undertook Bag Packing and Street Collection events in aid of Galway Hospice.  These events, combined, raised a total of €7,500.   The Rotary Club donated €1,000 of this towards Maggie Ryan’s and Helen Sheehan’s Kilimanjaro Climb in aid of Galway Hospice and the remaining €6,500 was presented directly to Galway Hospice.

Pictured at the presentation of the cheque for €6,500 to Galway Hospice are Gerry Purcell (President of Salthill Rotary), Pat Hobbert (Treasurer of Salthill Rotary) and Mary Tierney (Galway Hospice), along with members of Salthill Rotary.  Sincere thanks to everyone involved with Salthill Rotary for the wonderful success of these fundraising events, and to the Ardilaun Hotel in Taylors Hill for facilitating a number of meetings connected with these events.

In the second photograph, Gerry Purcell (President of Salthill Rotary), in the presence of Mary Tierney (Galway Hospice – centre) presents the cheque for €1,000 to Maggie Ryan towards the Kilimanjaro Climb fundraiser for Galway Hospice which she undertook with Helen Sheehan.  Maggie and Helen raised a total of €16,145.20 from their Kilimanjaro Climb, which they presented to Galway Hospice recently (see separate posting).

Galway Hospice would like to thank Salthill Rotary for organising the Bag Packing and Street Collection events and to everyone who supported Galway Hospice through those events.

Events like this are hugely important to Galway Hospice, as we must raise €1.5 million every year to fund our Home Care and Day Care services.  In recent months there has been a 19% increase in referrals to the Hospice Home Care service, which is placing a huge demand on our staffing and resources.  Thank you – people of Galway – for your fantastic continuing support as we strive to meet this increasing demand for our services, services that rely totally on voluntary fundraising.
