January 2012 – The “Atlantic Swim” in aid of Galway Hospice and Galway Swimming Club

A novel sponsored swim will be taking place this month in Leisureland swimming pool with 70% of the proceeds being donated to Galway Hospice and 30% being donated to the Galway Swimming Club.  This mammoth swim by Galway Swimming Club will involve participants swimming 5,169 kilometres (the equivalent distance from Galway to New York) in the pool, over a period of 10 days.

Best wishes to the organisers and participants of this event and thanks for choosing Galway Hospice as a beneficiary.   We need fundraising events like this now more than ever.  Our fundraising income fell by 10% last year and the HSE has already reduced by 7.3% what they give us to run the Inpatient Unit.  It is becoming very difficult to meet the demands on our services from reducing income, so events like this are very important to help keep our services going.

To sponsor the participants and support Galway Hospice, please contact Galway Hospice on 091 770868.

 Thank you!
