Croagh Patrick Fancy Dress Climb raises €4235 for Galway Hospice

Well done to all the climbers who recently took part in the fancy dress Croagh Patrick Climb in memory of Susie Downey Grealy.  Susie’s family and friends very generously donated the proceeds of this event jointly to Galway Hospice and Cancer Care West.  Galway Hospice would like to thank everyone who took part in the climb, which by all accounts was a very enjoyable event!!

Pictured are Rosie and Olivia Downey presenting a cheque for €4,235 to Orla Feeney of Galway Hospice, and below are some of the participants on the day pictured in the mist at the top of Croagh Patrick.

Congratulations and thanks to everyone who took part in the climb and to everyone who supported this event in any way. Galway Hospice depends so much on people like these, who take on the most amazing challenges to raise funds for Galway Hospice.  Today, we are caring for 136 patients in their own homes, patients who might otherwise have to be in hospitals or nursing homes.  The vast majority of these patients want to be cared for at home, if there is a choice available.  Hospice not only provides that choice, but also provides a comprehensive level of quality care in the home.  Hopefully, some day, the State will see fit to fund this service.  In the meantime, we rely on amazing people like Susie’s family and friends to help with the funding of this service.
