Barbeque Fundraiser raises €3,015 for Galway Hospice Patients’ Wish List Fund

Many thanks to John Flynn and Sinead Ryan who recently presented Sean O’Healy of Galway Hospice with a cheque for €3,015 which they raised through a barbeque fundraiser held in Egan’s Bar in Ballinasloe.

The event took place on 24th May with a barbeque, raffle, music and entertainment, and the proceeds were donated to purchase items from the Galway Hospice Patients’ Wish List.  The Wish List is drawn-up by staff from suggestions made by staff, volunteers, patients and families for items that would further enhance the comfort of patients and their families at Galway Hospice.

Our sincere thanks to John and Sinead for the time and enthusiasm they put into organising this event in aid of Galway Hospice, thanks to the many sponsors of food and spot prizes, and thanks to everyone who supported the event (some even coming from as far away as Dublin).

The event was hugely enjoyable, with a host of local musicians and dancers providing five hours of non-stop and varied entertainment, and a spectacular live head-shave which was serenaded by some sean-nos dancing on a barrel!  Photos from the event can be viewed at: https://www.facebook.com/galway.hospice#!/media/set/?set=a.186407164851119.1073741829.141245536033949&type=1
