Many thanks to the organisers of the Ballygar ‘Run for the Cure – Darkness into Light’ fundraising walk/run which took place on Sunday 4th May, and especially to everyone that took part! The event was held in aid of three charities – Galway Hospice, Pieta House and the Irish Cancer Society – and it raised a fantastic total of €16,500, to be shared between the 3 charities.
Pictured at the cheque presentation were (l-r): Peter Daly, Joanne Murphy (Irish Cancer Society), Mary O’Donnell, Gerard Kelly, Mary Kelly, Doireann Gilmore, Tom McEvoy (Pieta House), Nora Geraghty and Orla Feeney (Galway Hospice).
Many thanks to everyone who supported this event in aid of Galway Hospice, Pieta House and Irish Cancer Society. We at Galway Hospice are very grateful for every single event that is held to benefit Galway Hospice, whether it is an event purely for Galway Hospice, or an event to support Galway Hospice and other charities jointly. There is still a wonderful “giving heart” among the people of Galway, despite the economic climate at present. Did you know that our Home Care service has continued to treat more patients every year for the past seven years? Even for the first half of 2014, our numbers are up on the same period in 2013. Our Home Care service depends totally on voluntary donations, so events like Ballygar’s “Run for the Cure – Darkness into Light” are very important for us, and much appreciated.
Thank you to all concerned.
