John Raftery’s ‘close shave’ raises €8,532.59 for Galway Hospice!

20180224_074927 (2) (Copy) IMG_3112 (Copy)John Raftery wore his beard for the past 35 years (that’s over 12,000 days!). However, that was to change on Saturday, 17 March, 2018, when John shaved his beard in aid of Galway Hospice, raising €8,532.59 in the process. John and his wife Mary visited Galway Hospice last week and proudly presented the proceeds raised to Joann Tierney of the Foundation’s fundraising department.

Sincere thanks to John for parting with his beloved beard in order to raise funds for Galway Hospice. Thank you also to Mary and all of the Raftery family for their support, as well as to everyone who supported John in his fundraising efforts.

Every year, Galway Hospice must raise €1.8 million to maintain current levels of Hospice Home Care, Day Care and Bereavement Support services throughout Galway city and county.  Galway Hospice depends hugely on our supporters to reach this annual fundraising target. Thank you everyone for your support to date.
