Gratitude to Albert Reynolds, RIP

Albert ReynoldsIt may be a little known fact that recently-deceased former Taoiseach Albert Reynolds had a very significant connection with Galway Hospice.  On 22nd October 1993, the then Taoiseach laid the Foundation Stone for the Galway Hospice building in Renmore.  At the time there was much opposition from certain quarters to the development of a hospice in Galway, and it was a very significant gesture for Mr Reynolds as Taoiseach of the day to give his clear endorsement for the project.  Sean Duignan, who remains a Trustee / Patron of Galway Hospice to this day, played a key role in facilitating that visit.  It is with both sadness and gratitude that we extend our sympathies to Mr Reynolds’ wife Kathleen and family on their great loss.
