“Music of the Night” Concert in Ballinasloe raises €4947.47 for Galway Hospice

DSCN1613 (Copy)A wonderful concert of modern and classical songs, performed by soprano Rachel Goode with special guests Peter O’Reilly, Conor O’Meara, David Kennedy, and the choirs of Ard Scoil Mhuire, Ballinasloe, with accompaniment by Marie Power, and Master of Ceremonies Michael McCullagh, was held in St Michael’s Church Ballinasloe on Friday 28th February 2014.  The concert proved not alone to be an outstanding musical success, receiving a standing ovation from the capacity audience, but it also raised €4947.47 for Galway Hospice!

There’s an extensive photo record on this (Galway Hospice) Facebook page, under “Albums” – “Music of the Night at St. Michael’s, Ballinasloe”.

Recently, having just completed her final University exams, principal soloist and event organiser Rachel Goode came to Galway Hospice, where she is pictured presenting the cheque to Fiona McKinnon of Galway Hospice.  Of course the cheque is only the pictorial record!  Rachel had made sure that the funds were delivered to Galway Hospice immediately after the event!

Our sincere thanks to Rachel and to the other key participants at the concert – Peter O’Reilly, Conor O’Meara, David Kennedy, Marie Power, Michael McCullagh, the 3 choirs of Ard Scoil Mhuire, the Principal of Ard Scoil Mhuire Patricia Kilgallon for facilitating the choirs’ attendance, the choirs’ accompanist and conductor, to Fr McInerney for facilitating the concert in St Michael’s Church, to the sound and lighting personnel, the volunteers at the door, and huge thanks to all the people who turned out on the night to hear some wonderful singing, and to support the Galway Hospice.  All the funds raised go directly to support the provision of hospice Home Care and Day Care services.  Thank you all!
