27th Annual Annaghdown Cycle raises €20,270 for Galway Hospice!

Galway-Hospice-Annaghdown-Chq-PresentationThis year marked the 27th year of the annual Annaghdown Cycle in aid of Galway Hospice. On Saturday, 26th April 2014, the cyclists embarked on a two-day pelathon, leaving from Regan’s of Clonboo and passing through Caherlistrane, Shrule, Kilmaine, Scardaune, Ballindine, Claremorris (stopping for refreshments at the McWilliam Park Hotel), then on to Balla and finishing in Westport for an overnight stay in the Westport Woods Hotel.  The following morning, the cyclists left  Westport for their journey home, travelling through Ballinrobe, Cross, Headford, Cornerchapel, Corrandulla and arriving back at Regan’s of Clonboo, tired but delighted at what they had achieved.

This year, this wonderful annual fundraising event raised a staggering €20,270 for Galway Hospice.  Sincere thanks to the 27th Annaghdown Cycle Committee members (Eileen Regan, Sean Tully, Agnes Fox and Winnie Farragher), to all of the cyclists who “went the distance” for Galway Hospice, and to everyone who supported this wonderful fundraising event.  Well done everyone!

Pictured at the recent cheque presentation ar Regan’s of Clonboo are (front row, l-r): Mary Hoade (Mayor of County Galway), Breda King (Galway Hospice), Joanne Tierney (Galway Hospice), Eileen Regan (committee member), Agnes Fox (committee member) and Winnie Farragher (committee member), together with some of this year’s cyclists.

Events like the Annaghdown Cycle are very important to Galway Hospice in terms of our annual fundraising requirements.  Every year, Galway Hospice must raise €1.6 million to ensure the continuing provision of specialist Home Care, Day Care and Bereavement Support services to people throughout Galway city and county as well as to those residing on the adjoining islands.  Once again, we extend our deep appreciation to everyone involved in this cycle for their tremendous support of Galway Hospice. Thank you!
