7 Marathons in 7 Months for Galway Hospice

Galway Hospice is honoured to support Trevor Casserly and his remarkable fundraising efforts in memory of his close friend, Cathal Hynes. Trevor, with the support of Cathal’s friends and family, has set himself the challenge of completing 7 Marathons in 7 Months to raise funds for Galway Hospice and to pay tribute to Cathal. The number of marathons is inspired by Cathal’s nickname, being known as “The 7” from wearing the number 7 jersey for Carnmore Hurling Club for many years.

Trevor, with no prior experience in marathon running, began this journey in April earlier this year at the Westport Marathon, and will finish with the Dublin Marathon in October. Trevor has made fantastic progress so far, having already completed five marathons, including the Westport Marathon, the Great Limerick Run, the Cork City Marathon, the Königsschlösser Romantik Marathon in Germany, and most recently the Longford Marathon in August. On 21st September, Trevor will take on his sixth marathon at the Seven Sisters Skyline Marathon in Donegal, one of Ireland’s most challenging mountain races, before his final race as he participates in the Dublin marathon on October 27th.

You can support him through his GoFundMe page by clicking here.

Trevor has also been documenting his marathon journey on Instagram, sharing regular updates through the page @7in7forthe7, where supporters can follow along.

In addition, Trevor is involved in organising the 7in7 Throwdown Competition at Revolution Crossfit Gym in Doughiska on 12th October. The fun-filled fitness event is designed to be inclusive, welcoming participants of all fitness levels and abilities. Teams of two will compete in a timed workout circuit, with categories for mixed pairs, two men, or two women. The entry fee is €20 per entry for each team, with the more competitive participants allowed to re-enter multiple times throughout the day! Attendees can expect additional activities on the day to enjoy too and all proceeds will be to support Galway Hospice.

You can sign up to the challenge here.

The team at Revolution Crossfit is also promoting the event through their Instagram page, @springbreakthrowdown which you can follow by clicking here.

As part of the fundraising activities, Trevor’s workplace, KD Autoparts in Ballybane, will be hosting a Coffee Morning as part of Bewley’s Big Coffee Morning for Hospice from 8:30am to 1pm on Friday 27th September.

We would like to sincerely thank Trevor and all who are supporting his fantastic efforts, whether through competing, donating, or simply attending the events to cheer him on. We wish Trevor the best of luck in completing his future marathons and to all who are getting involved in these fundraising events on behalf of Galway Hospice.
