Abbeyknockmoy Set Dancing Club raises €1,500 for Galway Hospice

Many thanks to the Abbeyknockmoy “Wednesday Night Set Dancing Club” who held a Ceili in the Abbey Inn, Abbeyknockmoy, on Friday 9th March 2012 in aid of the Galway Hospice.

Geraldine Healy along with members of the “Wednesday Night Set Dancing Club” recently presented Mary Tierney (Galway Hospice) with the proceeds from their event.

Many thanks to everyone who took part in this fantastic night and also to everyone who supported Galway Hospice through the event.

Events like these are very important in terms of sustainable fundraising. Today, we are caring for 136 patients in their own homes, patients who might otherwise have to be in hospitals or nursing homes.  The vast majority of these patients want to be cared for at home, if there is a choice available.  Hospice not alone provides that choice, but provides a comprehensive level of quality care in the home.  Hopefully, some day, the State will take over the funding of this service.  In the meantime, we rely on amazing people like the Abbeyknockmoy Set Dancers to help with the funding of this service.

Thanks again to all concerned!
