From Friday 30th March – “Steel Magnolias” by Portumna Players in aid of Galway Hospice

Portumna Players are presenting an amateur production of  Steel Magnolias in the Town Hall in Portumna for four nights, in aid of Galway Hospice.

The performance dates are Friday 30th March, Sunday 1st April, Friday 6th April and Sunday 8th April 2012.

Steel Magnolias is a comedy–drama play about the bond among a group of Southern women in northwest Louisiana. It is written by Robert Harling, based on his experience with the death of his sister.  The title suggests the “female characters are as delicate as magnolias but as tough as steel”.  The magnolia specifically references a magnolia tree they are arguing about at the beginning of the play.  Doors open each night at 8pm and admission costs only €10.

All proceeds from this event will be donated to Galway Hospice.  Your support would be much appreciated.
