Cappatagle Fundraising Committee present €11,006 to Galway Hospice!

Many thanks to the Cappatagle Fundraising Committee who organised and hosted a number of events throughout the year, for the benefit of Galway Hospice.

The idea began with a ‘Weight Loss’ fundraising event and expanded to Table Quizes and much more.  The committee recently presented Galway Hospice with a whopping €11,006 from the events, but this figure is still rising as the committee is continuing to fundraise for Galway Hospice.  Over the years, the people of Cappatagle have been FANTASTIC supporters of Galway Hospice, and they excelled themselves again this year!  Sincere thanks to everyone who was involved in the fundraising and to everyone who supported the events throughout the year.

Pictured at the cheque presentation are (l-r): Sean Stankard, Collette Dodd (Galway Hospice), Michael Maher (Mayor of County Galway), Patricia Skehill and Tim Broderick.

Galway Hospice depends so much on people like these, who give their time and effort so generously to the organising and hosting of fundraising events for Galway Hospice.  We depend TOTALLY on the people of Galway to raise €1.5 million EVERY YEAR to fund our Day Care and Home Care services.  It should not be that way, but regretfully it is.  Hopefully the State will eventually take on responsibility for funding these vital services, but until that happens we just have to continue reaching out to the people of Galway to ensure that these services can continue.

Thanks again to all concerned.
