Galway Hospice launches Sunflower Appeal

Galway Hospice has launched a special appeal for donations.

The Covid-19 crisis has resulted in the cancellation of many fundraising events for the charity, including its annual Sunflower Days collection on 5th and 6th June.

“Usually, hundreds of Hospice volunteers would be out selling Sunflower pins in communities across Galway this Friday and Saturday,” explained Charlene Hurley, Director of Fundraising & Communications at Galway Hospice. “This year, those collections are not possible so we are asking the public to support us safely from home, by donating online, by phone or by text.”

As part of the Galway Hospice Sunflower Appeal, you can sponsor a special flower in the new online Galway Hospice Garden at www.garden.galwayhospice.ie

“Our Virtual Garden is a special way to remember a loved one or send a message to the hospice team who continue to care for patients at this very difficult time. You can ‘plant’ your own flower online, while supporting our continuing care,” said Ms Hurley.

All funds raised through the Galway Hospice Sunflower Appeal go to support Galway Hospice services, which are provided free of charge to patients and families affected by life-limiting illness.

To support the Galway Hospice Sunflower Appeal, sponsor a flower in the Galway Hospice Garden at www.garden.galwayhospice.ie, donate at www.galwayhospice.ie/donate, on 091-770868, or text GHF to 50300 to donate €4.*

*Text Costs €4. Galway Hospice will receive a minimum of €3.60. Service Provider: LIKECHARITY. Helpline 076 6805278.
