Vintage Tractor Run for Galway Hospice

The marathon vintage tractor trip through all the 32 counties of Ireland by Caherlistrane man Joe Flanagan and his friend Bill Doherty raised over €17,000 for three charities (including Galway Hospice), and the cheques were presented at a function in Tuam’s West Wing Ballroom on Saturday 8th January 2011, with each of the charities receiving €5,700.  The two men made the marathon all-Ireland tractor journey in less than 7 days last September and finished up, appropriately, at the National Ploughing Championships in Athy. Pictured at the presentation of the cheque to Galway Hospice are (l-r): Hazel Hynes (nee Flanagan), Mary Tierney (Galway Hospice) and Bill Doherty.  A huge thanks to Joe and Bill for their fantastic efforts, and thanks to everyone who supported the three charities along the way.
