The primary role of the Health Care Assistant will be to assist members of the multidisciplinary team in providing the highest standard of physical, psychological, social and spiritual care for patients, their relatives and friends
(i) Mandatory A QQI/ FETAC LEVEL 5 in Healthcare or equivalent is essential.
(ii) Desirable Experience in Palliative Care and /or healthcare setting.
(iii) Two years’ experience as Health Care Assistant.
(iv) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
(v) A desire to help / care for people.
(vi) A reliable, diligent and trustworthy character.
(viii) Treat all information confidentially and sensitively.

Applicants must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) and ideally possess a Postgraduate qualification in Palliative Care / Oncology.
- Be a Registered General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Palliative Care Setting with a background of acute experience.
- Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience at Senior Staff Nurse level /Acting CNM level / CNSp level or its equivalent.
- Undertaking/ willing to undertake or have completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Palliative Care (or similar e.g. Oncology, Haematology, Gerontology).
- Have demonstrated Managerial / Leadership experience – a necessary requirement for the position
- Have completed / undergoing Management / Staff Supervisory training
- Knowledge of Quality Systems (e.g. HIQA, CHKS, ISO, JCI)
- Evidence of continuing professional development is essential.
- Possess well-developed interpersonal and effective organisational skills.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills suited to the ethos and environment of Hospice setting.

Based in Galway and reporting to the HR Generalist, the Volunteer Co-ordinator will support volunteers in their roles. This will involve recruiting, training, organising and delegating volunteers to specified roles across the services of the Foundation and instilling accountability for the provision of a comfortable and safe environment for staff, patients and their families.
Candidates will have:
- Ideally a third level qualification / Supervisory Management qualification
- Excellent motivational, team orientated and people skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience of managing /supervising teams
- Experience of working with volunteers an advantage
- Excellent organisation and administrative ability
- Knowledge / experience of working within a quality system (e.g. HIQA, JCI, ISO, etc.)
- Experience of rostering / rotas a distinct advantage
- Intermediate level IT skills (Apps, MS Excel, Google sheets, etc.)

The primary role of the Registrars on each site will be to provide specialist palliative care as part of a multidisciplinary team for patients with life-limiting illnesses. The aim is to maximise quality of life for patients by the provision of the highest quality symptom management and support. Registrars will participate in the relevant on-call rota.
Candidates will have:
- Registration with Irish Medical Council is essential.
- Enrolment in professional competence scheme as per IMC requirements.
- Significant level of experience in medicine, palliative medicine, oncology, general practice or related disciplines.
- Palliative medicine experience desirable (but not essential).
- High level of clinical skills and knowledge.
- Excellent communication skills and team working, with the ability to establish good interpersonal relationships with other staff and disciplines.
- An understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of palliative care.
- Computer skills an advantage.
