St. Michael’s Boxing Academy Fundraiser for Galway Hospice

Galway’s St Michael’s Boxing Academy held a gala “Fight Night” at the Black Box Theatre on 14th November 2010 in aid of Galway Hospice, with special guest Michael Carruth, Olympic Gold Medalist.  St Michael’s Boxing Academy was established in 2009 by a group of volunteers, with the aim of keeping young people active, teaching them good discipline, and helping them to achieve their goals in life (enquiries to 086 8816740 and 086 2212851).  Thank you to the organisers of this event, to the sponsors, to the boxing clubs that supported the event, to those who attended, and especially to the boxers who took part.  To date a total of €2470 has been presented to Galway Hospice from this event.  The photograph shows (l-r): David Nash (treasurer), David Sweeney (Treasurer), Derek Ward (Secretary), Frank Fahy T.D., John Mongan (referee), Patrick Ward (P.R.O.), Berni Ward (Coach) and Jim Sweeney (President).
