Rehab “People of the Year” Award for Galway Hospice

The staff, volunteers and Board of Galway Hospice will be presented with a Rehab “People of the Year” Award at a gala event in the Clayton Hotel on Saturday 2nd April 2011.  Speaking at the announcement of the Awards, Dr Jack McCann (a member of the Adjudication Panel) praised the work of the hospice and all those associated with it.  “What began as a concept in 1986, was launched in 1990, and has been an absolutely crucial and tremendous service to the community since then, makes the Galway Hospice an organisation of untold importance in the Galway area”.  In 2010, Galway Hospice became the first hospice or palliative care service in Ireland to achieve dual world-class standards, with the award of CHKS Accreditation (International Society for Quality in Healthcare) and ISO 9001:2008 Certification.  This distinction was recognised by President McAleese when she welcomed representatives of Galway Hospice to Aras an Uachtarain in October 2010, where she paid tribute to the work of Galway Hospice, with which she is personally familiar.  Anyone wishing to attend the Awards Ceremony and banquet (a black-tie event) on 2nd April in support of the Galway Hospice team should contact Rehab 091 756653 or Ollie Robinson 087 2437009.   Photographed at the Launch of the Awards are hospice staff and volunteers: Photo (1)  (l-r): Bernie Walsh, Sean O’Healy and Margaret Forde.  Photo (2): (l-r) Back Row: Colette Dodd, Una Kinneen, Michael Craig, Patricia O’Connell and Teresa Lawless.  Front Row: Bernie Walsh, Phil Kilgannon, Sean O’Healy and Margaret Forde.   Thanks to Joe Travers for the use of these photographs.
