Kilrickle 5k Walk 2011 raises €7263.77 for Galway Hospice

The people of Kilrickle and surrounding areas turned out in large numbers recently to be part of a cheque presentation following their very successful 5k Walk, which was held in aid of Galway Hospice.  The Walk took place on May Day, Sunday 1st May 2011, and proved to be a huge success, raising the very impressive total of €7263.77.

Pictured at the cheque presentation are organisers Carmel Lawlor and Ita Daly, with Colette Dodd of Galway Hospice (centre).

Galway Hospice would like to thank Carmel and Ita for organising this event, and to thank everyone who took part or supported the event in any way.  Thanks also to all those who turned out for the cheque presentation.  It is clear that there is a great community spirit in the area.  Well done to all concerned!

Special thanks to Dessie O’Brien of Dessie O’Brien’s in Kilrickle for providing delicious complimentary hot food on the day of the Walk, and for hosting the cheque presentation event, again with ample finger food for all those attending.  Thank you, Dessie!  Much appreciated by the many who enjoyed your generosity!

Events like this are hugely important to Galway Hospice as we must raise €1.5 million every year to fund our Home Care and Day Care services.
