GCC 5-a-side Soccer for Galway Hospice

On Saturday March 5th  2011, a group of Event Management students from Galway Community College will hold a 5-a-side Soccer Tournament in aid of Galway Hospice. The tournament will kick off at 1pm in Drom AstroTurf Grounds, home of Salthill Devon FC.  The group members Michelle Moran, Andrew Sage, Letitia O’Regan and Karl Madden have been planning this event since October 2010.

The project started off as a group assignment for the students but it has become an opportunity to give back to the local community by doing some charity fundraising work.  There has been much interest in the event and it promises to be a fun-filled day, with friends of the students also assisting them with the event.

“We’ve been amazed by the support we have received, especially in these difficult times.  Our sponsors Geoghegans’ Bar, Tuam have been very generous, as has JP Duffy, manager of Drom Astroturf.  Their support and kindness is greatly appreciated”, said Michelle Moran.

The cost of entry is €60 per team of 7 (including 2 substitutes), with a three game minimum guarantee.  For more information on the event search ‘soccer rules’ on Facebook.  Application forms are also available in Geoghegans Bar, Tuam, Drom ClubHouse and via email to  chelmoran23@gmail.com
