Staff members at Dunnes Stores, Briarhill, recently presented Galway Hospice with a cheque for €977.45, which they raised through their participation in the ‘Hell and Back’ challenge in September. The “Hell and Back” challenge is known as Ireland’s toughest physical and mental endurance test, and is certainly not to be undertaken by the faint-hearted! Congratulations to all of the Dunnes Stores staff who took on this challenge, to raise funds for Galway Hospice.
Pictured at the cheque presentation are: (l-r): Mark Reynolds, Mary Tierney (Galway Hospice), Donna Murphy and Johnathan Flaherty. Participants in the challenge who couldn’t attend the cheque presentation are: Kevin Daly, Alan Flannelly and Dolores Kelly. Sincere thanks to everyone who took part in and supported this fundraising challenge in aid of Galway Hospice.
Galway Hospice’s Home Care, Day Care and Bereavement Support services collectively cost €1.6 million every year to provide. Galway Hospice receives no State funding for these services and so we depend entirely on voluntary contributions to ensure their continued provision. The donation received from the Dunnes Stores team is therefore very much appreciated.
