Based in Castlebar, Co. Mayo, the experienced Physiotherapist shall ensure the provision of a quality service to patients, from assessment to treatment, in line with best international standards and to enhance (insofar as is possible) the quality of life of the patients attending Galway Hospice Day Care and Inpatient Unit

 

Candidates will:

  • Be a registered with the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP) or CORU.
  • Have at least three years satisfactory post registration experience
  • Experience in a Hospital / Hospice setting is desirable
  • Demonstrate evidence of up-to-date knowledge.
  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Have experience of providing staff supervision desirable
  • Have IT skills

The purpose of this role will be to provide secretarial services to the Community Palliative Care Coordinator, Community Palliative Care Medical and Nursing staff, etc. and an effective administration service for the Community Care Team.

 

Candidates will have:

  • Third level business/Administration or other relevant qualification.
  • Experience in Palliative Care or Hospital setting is desirable but not essential.
  • Two years’ experience as Ward Clerk / Medical Secretary
  • Excellent organisational, administrative, resource and time management skills; the ability to multi task combined with the ability to prioritise
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong IT Skills / computer literacy e.g. MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Experience in a Hospital / Hospice setting is desirable

The primary role of the Health Care Assistant will be to assist members of the multidisciplinary team in providing the highest standard of physical, psychological, social and spiritual care for patients, their relatives and friends

 

Applicants must have:

(i)            A FETAC in Healthcare or equivalent is essential.

(ii)           Experience in Palliative Care or Hospital setting.

(iii)          Two years’ experience as Health Care Assistant

(iv)          Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

(v)           IT Skills

(vi)          A desire to help / care for people

(vii)         A reliable, diligent and trustworthy character

Applicants must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) and ideally possess a Postgraduate qualification in Palliative Care / Oncology. 

 

  • Be a Registered General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Palliative Care Setting with a background of acute experience.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience at Senior Staff Nurse level /Acting CNM level / CNSp level or its equivalent.
  • Undertaking or have completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Palliative Care (or similar e.g. Oncology, Haematology, Gerontology).
  • Have demonstrated Managerial / Leadership experience – a necessary requirement for the position
  • Have completed / undergoing Management / Staff Supervisory training
  • Knowledge of Quality Systems (e.g. HIQA, CHKS, ISO, JCI)
  • Evidence of continuing professional development is essential.
  • Possess well-developed interpersonal and effective organisational skills.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills suited to the ethos and environment of Hospice setting.

The successful candidate will help to ensure that a caring environment is achieved within the In Patient Unit (IPU), contributing to the highest possible quality of nursing care.

Candidates will have:

(i)         Registration in General Nursing with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI

(ii)        12-18 months post graduate experience.

(iii)       Experience in palliative care/oncology setting desirable but not essential.

(iv)       Ideally, a PDip in Palliative care (or similar e.g. Oncology, Haematology, Gerontology) or a  willingness to undertake same post probationary period.

(v)        Other relevant experience will be considered.

(vi)       A commitment to multidisciplinary teamwork

(vii)      Possess well developed interpersonal and effective organisational skills suited to the ethos and environment of a Hospice setting.
