The primary role of the Payroll / Accounts Assistant Locum will be to provide annual leave cover for the months of June -August and to carry out payroll/accounting administrative duties as required/directed by the Accounts Manager.

Key Skills / Requirements:

·         Accounts technician qualification (or equivalent)

·         Payroll experience essential

·         3-5 years’ accounting / administration experience

·         Experience of Quickbooks / Sage Micropay (online) desirable

·         Excellent communication skills to deal with suppliers, customers, etc.

·         Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines

·         Self-starter, with eye for detail and accuracy

The primary role of the Registrars on each site will be to provide palliative care as part of a multidisciplinary team for patients with advanced malignancies and other life-limiting illnesses (in inpatient unit and day care settings) and be part of the on-call rota. The aim is to maximise quality of life for patients by the provision of the highest quality symptom management and support.

Candidates will have:

  • Registration with Irish Medical Council is essential.
  • Enrolment in professional competence scheme as per Irish Medical Council requirements.
  • Significant level of experience in medicine, palliative medicine, oncology, general practice or related disciplines.
  • Palliative medicine experience desirable (but not essential).
  • High level of clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish good interpersonal relationships with other staff and disciplines and to work in a team.
  • An understanding of and commitment to philosophy of palliative care and a commitment to maintaining the Mission & Values of Galway Hospice Foundation.
  • Computer skills an advantage.

(i)         Registration in General Nursing with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI

(ii)        12-18 months post graduate experience.

(iii)       Experience in palliative care/oncology setting desirable but not essential.

(iv)       Ideally, a PDip in Palliative care (or similar e.g. Oncology, Haematology, Gerontology) or a  willingness to undertake same post probationary period.

(v)        Other relevant experience will be considered.

(vi)       A commitment to multidisciplinary teamwork

(vii)      Possess well developed interpersonal and effective organisational skills suited to the ethos and environment of a Hospice setting.
