As our Education Manager, you will be responsible for planning, developing, co-ordinating, delivering, and evaluating evidence-based, quality-assured education and training programmes for all staff and volunteers, as relevant, within the Hospice Community.

Education is hugely important in palliative care. We need to empower more carers to feel comfortable having those sensitive conversations and to perform practical skills. In care homes, many of the staff are not nurses and they will need more and more support as increasing numbers of people die in the community and in long-term care facilities. We need to facilitate their learning, so they know what to do, and who to call.

Applicants should ideally possess:

  • A recognised Postgraduate Qualification (QQI Level 9 or higher, e.g. Postgraduate Diploma / Master’s Degree) in Education.
  • A postgraduate Qualification (QQI Level 8 or higher, e.g. Higher Diploma / Postgraduate Diploma / Master’s Degree) in Palliative Care or associated field
  • Relevant teaching experience and Information Communication Technology (ICT) skills.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills suited to the ethos and environment of the Hospice.
  • Knowledge of Quality Systems (e.g. HIQA, CHKS, ISO, JCI).
  • Registration with, or eligible to register with, the relevant professional body (e.g. NMBI / CORU)
  • Full clean driving licence and ability to travel approximately 10% required.

We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates who are interested in the above position.

For a detailed job description and application form, or any further information, please contact Ann Dolan, Director of HR, at: adolan@galwayhospice.ie

Closing date for receipt of all applications is 10.00 a.m. Thursday, 9th February 2023
