Six Month Fixed Term Position

 

Based in Galway, the experienced Physiotherapist shall ensure the provision of a quality service to patients, from assessment to treatment, in line with best international standards and to enhance (insofar as is possible) the quality of life of the patients attending Galway Hospice Day Care and Inpatient Unit

 

Candidates will:

  • Be a registered with the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP) or CORU.
  • Have at least three years satisfactory post registration experience
  • Experience in a Hospital / Hospice setting is desirable
  • Demonstrate evidence of up-to-date knowledge.
  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Have experience of providing staff supervision desirable
  • Have IT skills

Maternity Cover (Fixed Term) Position

 

Candidates will:

 

■ Possess excellent communication skills and be flexible in their approach to the role.

 

■ The successful candidate will need to have 4­-5 years’ experience in an administrative role and a background within the Fundraising Sector would be a distinct advantage

 

■ Possess well developed interpersonal and effective organisational skills and be able to demonstrate a high standard of communication skills.

 

■ Have excellent administrative and time management skills as well as the ability to work on own initiative and manage own workload.

We are delighted to announce we are now at the final tranche in our recruitment for Mayo Hospice (Castlebar) which will open under the governance of the Galway Hospice Foundation later this year.  This facility has been developed by Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation as a result of the great support received from the people of Mayo and Roscommon.

 

The Galway Hospice Foundation has a long history of providing high quality specialist palliative care services to adults and children with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses throughout Galway city and county, and on the adjoining islands.

 

We are delighted to be now partnering with the HSE and Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation to open the new hospice in Castlebar.

6 Month Fixed Term (39hpw) Position

 

We are delighted to announce we are now recruiting the above posts for Mayo Hospice (Castlebar) which will open under the governance of the Galway Hospice Foundation later this year.  This facility has been developed by Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation as a result of the great support received from the people of Mayo and Roscommon.

 

The Galway Hospice Foundation has a long history of providing high quality specialist palliative care services to adults and children with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses throughout Galway city and county, and on the adjoining islands.

 

We are delighted to be now partnering with the HSE and Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation to open the new hospice in Castlebar.

 

The primary role of the Registrar will be to provide palliative care as part of a multidisciplinary team for patients with advanced malignancies and other illnesses (in In-Patient Unit, Day Care and Home Care settings) and be part of the on-call rota.   The aim is to maximise quality of life for patients by the provision of the highest quality symptom management and support.

 

Candidates will have:

  • Registration with Irish Medical Council essential.
  • Enrolment in professional competence scheme as per Irish Medical Council requirements.
  • Significant level of experience in medicine, palliative medicine, oncology, general practice or related disciplines.
  • Palliative medicine experience desirable (but not essential).
  • High level of clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish good interpersonal relationships with other staff and disciplines and to work in a team.
  • An understanding of and commitment to philosophy of palliative care and a commitment to maintaining the Mission & Values of Galway Hospice Foundation.
  • Computer skills an advantage.

Full Time Position – 37 hpw

 

Reporting to the Director of Nursing, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of a quality and client centred Occupational Therapy Service to meet the needs of the service user group and the objectives of the Foundation, as well as the provision of a high quality Occupational Therapy service in a designated area and will carry out clinical and educational duties as assigned.  Candidates will:

 

  • (i) Hold a degree in Occupational Therapy or an equivalent qualification.
  • (ii) Be registered as an Occupational Therapist with CORU.
  • (iii) Have a minimum of five years post qualification experience, some experience of working with a palliative care caseload. (specialist and/or generalist)
  • (iv) Have experience of complex case management and multidisciplinary teamwork.
  • (v) Have strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • (vi) Hold a clean Full Driver’s Licence and potential to travel to Mayo facility and
  • (vii) Be registered as a member of AOTI (desirable)
